How To Build Your Small Business

If you have talked to me, you know I am all about building a strong business foundation. But how do you build up from there?

What's a business foundation?

A business foundation is how you build up your small business. For example, my company helps lay the foundation for a well-rounded SEO plan around my clients ideal client. For my company, a good foundation included basic planning and strategies in marketing, human resources, finance, and other business activates.

I have a business foundation. What's next?

Due to COVID-19 and the shut down, I focused on building relationships. But I thought that was just me. Last Friday, I attend a presentation by Tobin Slaven in the Boardroom.

He talked about how growing relationships was more important than email lists. Say what?!

Quick side notes:

if you are looking for a community focused on business education and team support, I recommend the Boardroom. Check our their site here.

Tobin has a book called "Experts NEVER Chase". You can buy it on Amazon.

I did buy the book, even before he finished his presentation.

Relationships vs Email Marketing

I have said it before, I'll say it again: I am not a fan of filling up people's email boxes. I understand the importance of it; but as a service based provider, I am no going to be filling my calendar with clients from my email list. *Key distinction here is service provider. Businesses who provide products will have more success with email marketing.* I've known since the beginning, networking and relationship building would be my keys to success; after I had my business foundation in place. 😉 I know more people are more likely to work with me, if they know me. My client's also gave me the nickname #GigglingGoogleGuru... so relationship building can help you in more than one way.😂

I will still send out my emails. It's a great way for me to test and refine my abilities to write catchy titles. But I never miss out on a chance to meet people virtually or face-to-face.
