Should You Pay For Marketing?

No matter what stage your business is in: you need marketing to help promote your business. In this age of digital and "googling" your digital presence is more important than ever.

The key questions is: what stage are you in the business lifecycle?

I am in the early stages. I have a plan in place to eventually pay for marketing. My plan is to outsource the activity and I know which marketing team I want to work with in the future.

If you are farther a long and have the capital to do so - DO IT. Whether you pay for ads or you outsource the activity, investing in marketing is a sound decision. I have seen various numbers on the ROI - return on investment - for paid ads. Google Ads was claiming a $42 return for $8 spent. Facebook ROI is 1000 people reached for every $20 spent.

My advice to you is research what platform is the best match for your company and your ideal client. Ask questions to determine which is the best for you to use. You want to know things like: how specific of demographics can you target. Ask about retargeting and is it included in the price paid. Reality is you don't know, what you don't know. Asking questions will usually lead to more questions and higher clarification. This is also why I am outsourcing my Marketing until I can afford to hire my own Marketing Team.

If you are in a position to bring on a Marketing Team in house there are a few items you need to consider. You will want to stay on top of the numbers to back up the creative team. You may not be able to bring on a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) who would typically perform the task . You will need to know how to track various aspects of marketing campaigns and the correlation of driving traffic to your business.
